About Third Grade

Your children will start their journey by building a classroom community. From there they will delve into "just right" books, comprehension strategies, and the components of oral reading. When moving into writing, third graders will focus on writing in paragraphs through the different modes, such as narrative and expository writing. Continuing their journey of learning, students will be engaged in hands-on learning experiences with rocks and minerals, meal worms, and anchors aweigh.

Social studies will open new doors to learning about communities, Native Americans, and other cultures. Math will usher in the new with strategies such as lattice multiplication and review concepts such as double digit addition and subtraction.
